Financial Planning Research Journal Special Issue

15 June 2026

The editorial board of the Financial Planning Research Journal (FPRJ) is calling for paper submissions for an upcoming special issue on "Advancing Financial Resilience, to achieve Financial Security and Well-Being Through Financial Planning". We invite submissions from academics and practitioners worldwide to contribute to this significant dialogue.

Financial planners, and more broadly professionals providing financial advice, play a critical role in helping individuals and families navigate uncertainty, adapt to major life events and transitions, and build sustainable financial futures. As economic volatility, demographic shifts, and evolving client needs continue to reshape the financial planning landscape, there is a growing need to better understand how financial planning can foster long-term financial resilience, and in turn, how financial resilience can lead to improved financial security and overall well-being.

This call invites submissions that explore ways in which financial planners support clients in developing the knowledge, behaviours, and strategies necessary to withstand unfortunate life events, recover from financial shocks, and achieve enduring financial stability. We are particularly interested in work that bridges theory and practice, offering insights that can inform professional practice and policy development as well as advance the discipline of financial planning research.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

·        Strategies and frameworks for building client financial resilience across the life course

·        The role of financial planners in enhancing financial security and long-term well-being

·        Behavioral and psychological dimensions of financial resilience

·        Behavioral and psychological dimensions of financial security

·        The impact of financial advice on client outcomes during periods of psychological and economic stress

·        Inclusive approaches to supporting diverse and underserved populations

·        The intersection of financial planning with financial literacy, client empowerment and self-efficacy

·        Measurement and evaluation of financial well-being, security and resilience

We welcome empirical research, theoretical papers, and practitioner-focused insights that contribute to a deeper understanding of how financial planning can support clients in achieving not only financial security, but also financial well-being over the life course.

By advancing this conversation, we aim to highlight the profession’s role in promoting resilience and to identify actionable pathways for improving client outcomes in an increasingly complex financial world.
